What is Esports?
Electronic sports,or Esports, are competitive video games played in online or in- person tournaments, which often take the form of organised, multiplayer video game competitions, especially between professional players,either individually or as a team.Some Esports are fighting games,racing games,eSports games etc.
Unlike mainstream professional sports,Esports players are typically equipped with a gaming PC rig, which includes specialised keyboards, igaming mice,graphics cards and other gadgets rather than sporting equipment.
Counter-Strike has been one of the most popular esports since its release in 2000.
The world's first esports tournament "the Intergalactic Spacewar Olympics" was held on 19 October 1972, hosted by the Artificial Intelligence Laboratory at Stanford University 24 players met on that day to compete in "Spacewar".

Bangladeshi teenagers and youngsters have found interest in gaming and now a big society has grown up. Various teams from Bangladesh have done great in the international gaming industry.

The Esports scenario of Bangladesh, mobile gaming is the most popular at present like PUBG Mobile,Free Fire Battlegrounds,Mobile Legends:Bang Bang,Call of Duty:Mobile,Among Us,Fall Guys,Etc.
For example :A1 Esports from Bangladesh is another popular team with 206k followers but they are mainly known for PUBG.Recently,they participated in the PUBG Mobile Star Challenge and placed 4th.
The first edition of the PUBG Mobile Campus Championship Bangladesh has come to an end with A1 Esports 1952 being crowned champion of the regional university student tournament .
D1 Cup:The biggest LAN tournament in the history of Bangladesh took place in the capital's
International Conversation City Bashundhara on 24 July with a whopping prize pool of Tk 405000,said a press release.
Septem Exierant won the title Championship of Valorant title and the Exceeli Esports was the runner-up.Covenant won the Championship of DOTA 2 and the runners-up were Blank Nation.
There were 75 esports players from Bangladesh who won a total of $203,594.01 USD in prize money from 74 tournaments. The top- ranked game was PLAYERUNKNOWN'S BATTLEGROUNDS Mobile with $108,608.36 USD in prize money,accounting for 53.35% of all prize money won by Bangladeshi players.
Bangladesh's eSports gaming scene has reached a new milestone as for the first time in history, an all- female team has represented Bangladesh in the official eSports tournament "Global eSports Games 2022", competing in Dota 2.

According to industry insiders,eSpots have seen a significant increase in popularity,marketing, promotion and competition in 2020-2021.The tournament prize- one of the main incentives for players to invest their time and effort in the industry- has been gradually increasing over the years.
Two years ago,the biggest tournament would have an a prize money of Tk 5000.
Now it's Tk 1 lakh per month.
Players see eSports as a career option, said a top official of a local eSports company.
It is a matter of great pride that large a major telecom brand like airtel are showing interest,which means that Bangladesh is on its way to global recognition in the eSports sector.as long as opportunities like this keep coming ,the industry will continue to grow and we will soon be able to generate revenue within our borders.
In Bangladesh, Ulka Games, Hambo Games, Plains,Thunder Games,Free pixel Games,Rise up Lobs,Alpha Potato have reaped the good dividends of being a part of the eSports industry.
Advertising brands such as Realme,Oppo,Vivo and others are recruiting mobile Esports players for promotional purposes.
On the other hand,mobile network operators such as Banglalink have relied on local players for promotional activities.
In terms of viewership size,the official PUBG mobile,Free Fire Battlegrounds tournaments attract over 400,000 views per livestream.
The local gaming and Esports industry is heavily dependent on the country's youth significantly.
Most gamers are either teenagers or young adults,with a few exceptions.
There are many ways in which the industry contributes directly or indirectly to the country's GDP.
For the future
Esports are gaining popularity around the world for a variety of reasons. The esports gaming industry in Bangladesh is still relatively small and in its nascent stage,but it has significant growth potential in the future. According to various stakeholders of the industry a sustainable backbone of the industry needs to be established and nurtured at its core;moderators need to be introduced to coach the players from the grassroots level.
People who are addicted to drugs spend their time in gaming and start their careers.
A degree in esports can pave the way for many exciting careers in the esports field. There are also a number of new companies getting involved in the field with more opportunities opening up across the country.
